Byzantium Caesar Heraclius, said to Dihye, who presented him a letter from our prophet (saw), inviting him to Islam,
“Let Allah (swt) make you attain his mercy! Wallahi, I know well that your master is the prophet that Allah (swt) has sent for mankind.

If I wasn’t scared for my life of the Romans, I would persist on him and help him!” He then sent it to the Byzantium patriarch, Uskuf Dagatir, and told him, “Explain your problem to your master Rasulullah! Wallahi, he is a greater person than me among the Romans.

His word is more valid than mine! Look to see what he is going to say!” Our prophet wrote a letter that was to be given to Dagatir, with the following: “Greetings to the ones who came to believe in Islam! There is no doubt that the son of Mary, Isa, is the soul and word that Allah (swt) dropped into the pure hearted and morally complete Meryam. I believe in Allah (swt) and everything that Allah (swt) has lowered down to us, what Allah (swt) endowed to Ibrahim, Ismail, Ishak, Yakub… and all of the prophets. We would not separate anyone of them from the other, we believe in every one of them. We are Muslims that succumb to Allah! Greetings to the ones who have found the right path!”

Dihye went to Dagatir and invited him to Islam. Dagatir said; “Wallahi your master is the prophet that Allah (swt) has sent! We recognise his qualities; we have found his name written in our books!”

Dagatir used to give advice and council the Christians every Sundays. On a couple of Sundays he used his illness as an excuse to not go into the church. The Nasranis sent out news to Dagatir saying, “either he is going to come out among us, or we will go next to him! We aren’t pleased with his matter of conduct since this Arab came!” Dagatir sent Dihye away by saying “send my greetings to your master (Rasulullah). Let him know that I bear witness that there is no god but Allah (swt) (swt), that Muhammad is the servant and messenger of Allah (swt), that Isa is the servant of Allah (swt) and is the soul & the word that Allah (swt) dropped into the clean and virtuous Meryam!” He took off the black garment he had on him and wore a white one.

He took his baton into his hand went next to the gathered Romans at the church and said “Oh Romans! A letter came from the prophet of Allah (swt). In his letter he invited us to the great Allah (swt). I bear witness that there is no god but Allah (swt)! And Ahmed is his slave and messenger!” As soon as he said this, all of the Romans attacked him and beat him until he became a shaheed!”

The difference between slander and Calumny

One woman, in order to find a solution to a problem came to Rasulullah (saw). As she was leaving, Hz Aisha (r.anha) said

“O Rasulullah! What a short woman!”

Rasulullah (saw) said:

“O Aisha! Do not slander.”

Hz. Aisha said

“O Rasulullah! I only said something that she has.”

To which Rasulullah (saw) replied:

“Yes, that is why I said do not slander. If you said something that she didn’t have then I would have said calumny.”
